HELPING YOU BUILD A CALM, CONFIDENT, AND WELL-BEHAVED DOG–FOR REAL LIFE.

Hi, I’m Byron, founder of K9 Training with Byron, lifelong student of dogs, and proud owner and trainer of my own dogs and many I have had the honor of training over the years.

For me, working with dogs is not just a career–it is a calling.

MY JOURNEY

In 2005, I left a career in corporate America’s pharmaceutical sector to follow my true passion: understanding dogs and helping them live balanced, fulfilled lives with their people. I started out with a dog walking business, and that experience gave me something invaluable: daily hands–on lessons in canine behavior.

I learned to listen–not just to barks or body language, but to the energy dogs carry. From there, I transitioned into full–time training, developing a unique approach that focuses on a dog’s state of mind, not just surface–level obedience.

Whether you’re dealing with reactivity, anxiety, leash pulling, or just want a dog who listens and respects boundaries, I’ll meet you where you are and guide you toward the balanced life you’ve been wanting with your dog.

The Dogs Who Shaped Me

Two of the most important teachers in my life are my soul dogs, Hank and Kahlua. Hank my legend who started it all crossed over the rainbow bridge 8/8/2021 at 11:50 am. My young girl is Kahlua, she was found and rescued by koreank9rescue.org from the streets of Korea during the fall of 2020. She arrived to the New York City and when I saw her I made a request to the rescue group that I will foster to adopt. Hank and Kahlua have guided me, challenged me, and ultimately shaped the way I see dog training–not as a set of rules, but as a shared journey of growth.

Alongside them, I’ve been blessed with dog helpers–highly intuitive, socially stable dogs who assist me in training sessions. They step in to show other dogs how to behave, offering calm guidance that no human could replicate. Together, they have helped me create a balanced learning environment where dogs can thrive.

Training Philosophy

I do not believe in quick fixes or “cookie–cutter” methods. Each dog is unique, and what works for one may not work for another. That is why my philosophy centers on:

  • Trust before training – when your dog trusts you, real learning begins.

  • Clarity and consistency – so your dog knows exactly what’s expected.

  • Real–world training – because you need results that work at home, in the park, or anywhere life takes you.

  • Empowering owners – my job is not just to train your dog, but to teach you how to become the calm, confident leader your dog needs.

What Sets Me Apart

  • 16+ years of professional dog training experience with all breeds and temperaments

  • Specialized in behavior modification for dogs with reactivity, anxiety, and aggression

  • Tailored programs for every dog’s unique personality and to meet your goals

  • Supported by my own team of stable, well-trained dogs who assist other dogs find stability

Beyond Training

When I’m not working with clients, I’m with my own dog–my greatest teacher and companion. She reminds me daily that dogs are highly intuitive beings who reflect our energy, and that when we grow, they grow with us.
